After-School Program at Wyatt Academy

Colorado AMP’s after-school band program at Wyatt meets twice per week from 3:30-4:30pm on Mondays and Wednesdays and gives Wyatt 3rd-5th graders who have always wanted to learn the ins and outs of music to play in a real band.

The cost for the band program is $50 per student, but scholarships and sliding scale fees are available. They will learn music theory and ear training, writing, production, recording, modern music history, and more. Even if they have never played before, participants learn how to play the guitar, drums, bass, or keyboard with a dedicated teacher. 

 

Participants will use the first part of each day to get to know each other better, followed by instruction in music. Our goal is to give kids ongoing exposure to the arts to replace the cutting down of arts presently happening in many public schools. The program is small, intensive (capped at 10 students maximum), and meant to create strong bonds between participants.
