Colorado AMP’s after-school band program meets once per week from 4:00-5:15pm (scheduled on an individual basis to match participants’ interests and musical skill), and is focused on kids (ages 9-16) who have always wanted to learn the ins and outs of music.
We like to get new students started with at least a couple of private lessons in an instrument of their choice to get familiar with our program, and to allow us to place your student with a band of peers that is well-suited to their preferences and skill level. You can learn more about our private lessons
here.
The cost for the band program is $50 per student per month, but scholarships and sliding scale fees are available. They will learn music theory and ear training, writing, production, recording, modern music history, and more. Even if they have never played before, participants learn how to play the guitar, drums, bass, or keyboard with a dedicated teacher.
Participants will use the first part of each day to get to know each other and play games, followed by instruction in music. Our goal is to give kids ongoing exposure to the arts to replace the cutting down of arts presently happening in many public schools. The program is small, intensive, and meant to create strong bonds between participants.
What Colorado AMP participants receive with the program:
Tools to better understand music. In addition to playing their instrument, they will learn music theory, music history and ear training, and much more.
Music they are excited about. The kids will learn music that is relevant to their age and interest.
A chance to meet other kids with similar interests!
School studies. We know school comes first. Students have the option of getting tutoring in their normal studies so they complete those before moving on to learning music.
The cost is $50 per month and we do have scholarships available so that anyone who is interested can participate! Register below and contact us by phone or email if you have any questions.
